In the UK organizations like Womens Aid and a host of others exist to support victims of domestic violence. When we say “victims” then in real terms women and possibly gay men are meant (i.e. straight men are most often excluded) and furthermore you do not have to prove you have been a victim; simply saying you are a victim will automatically get you victim status (i.e. there is no actual investigation) and thus access to free Legal Aid.

Indeed Womens Aid representatives can simply invite themselves into the courtroom. In my case the judge started to appreciate my arguement, so the (univited) Womens Aid person stood up and simply declared that should the judge even consider the mans arguement then she would reply by taking the woman and children into the refuge and the judge would be responsible for the consequent privations incurred. Simply a fait acompli !!

Womens Aid loves all this; they feel important, they feel crusading, they help themselves to government money (Legal Aid) to pay their own legal people ... and at the end of the year they produce inflated statistics of violence against women to prove that Womens Aid is still needed. A nice circular arguement.

They describe themselves ...

The Women's Aid 24 hour National Domestic Violence Helpline provides support, information and a listening ear to women experiencing (or who have experienced) domestic abuse and to those seeking help on a woman's behalf. Helpline staff will discuss the available options and, if appropriate, refer callers on to refuges and other sources of help and information. Their aim is to enable women to discuss options for action and to empower them to make informed choices to change their life and your children's lives.

You will have to go to Womens Aid because the dedicated male help is very weak. Shortly, watch out: You may get Legal Aid from this source (Womens Aid) but remember they are positively motivated to scrape up as many anti-men "cases" as possible!
