Problems with your marriage? No dad is safe! Here is a guide to help fathers in a divorce or separation process.

  • There are close to 150.000 divorces in England and Wales every year.
  • Six couples in 1000 will divorce in any one year and 10% of married couples break up before their child is five.
  • Half of all marriages will not last 10 years.
  • Widowhood apart, the chances of a divorce are almost 90%.
  • Divorce is a very profitable business for women.
  • Especially mums get large financial incentives to lie, to be bloody minded and generally commit appalling perjury.
  • The vast majority of divorce proceedings are initiated by the wife ... and it's not for the husbands adultery!
  • The divorce court, CafCass and the CSA are all biased in favour of the woman.
  • Prenuptial agreements are not enforceable in the UK.

You are not immune! Today divorce is very tempting for mums because it is so tremendously lucrative, so your wife can kill you emotionally and economically dead and be generously rewarded for it at any time. Be forewarned ... please!!

The consequences of divorce are catastrophic for fathers; they often end up in terrible poverty, lonely and poor for the rest of their lives, often prevented from seeing their own children.

So why are you here? If you have any inkling that your marriage is not what it should be, then the natural male inclination is to shrug, work harder, pay lip service and hope it all blows over. That makes it worse ... middle-class professionals are TARGETS. You are in denial, I urge you to be realistic and prepare! What I really want to achieve is that you don’t end up broke and broken, like so many men in the UK today.

I have prepared an e-book about REAL divorce, It can be a guide; it is based on my own personal experiences that I as a doctor and a scientist can analyse, plus I have interviewed a great many other men and incorporated their stories into my own. This book is updated on a regular basis (last update 09.02.2010) from all the new tips and experiences that come in!

In this e-book I describe how voices of apparent reasonableness (including perhaps your own solicitor) will lead the unwary into appalling situations. A sadly surprising number of decent hard working guys with good jobs are out there, lonely, surviving on cheap sausage rolls in cold rented 1-bed maisonettes while their ex bathes in the warm joy of a happy family, a secure income, lots of free time, a younger boyfriend and guess what? You are paying for it!!

Don’t be dumb and get caught. What really breaks me up is guys whose wives have run off with someone else ... but they just stand there with a stupid grin on their face thinking they are safe "because I’ve done nothing wrong". GET REAL! You are about to be slaughtered. It is a vertical playing field – the opposite of a level playing field – and only preparation and insider knowledge can help you. This is what the lawyers don't tell you!

But before that, a word to the wise, please download the e-book onto a safe computer: you really do not want your wife to read it. Also do not talk about it other than to trustworthy male friends that may be in the same situation ... even though I would consider that to be all fathers everywhere!

The e-book "The Vertical Playing Field" is available in Adobe PDF format (for reading on PC or Mac computers and most other devices) or Sony LRF format (for reading on a Sony Reader PRS-500). I ask for a symbolic contribution of £10.75 but remember! By following any of the tips presented you may well save thousands of pounds, so don't try to save peanuts now and end up spoiling your chances later!

Good Luck ... you'll need it.

Dr. Robert Mellor.
